I agree about the LivinLite Quicksilver series and the Aliner A frame popups. Both can be light enough. You want your tongue weight to be under the max rating for the hitch also (probably 150 lbs?) and some models of these trailers can do it.

How many people do you want to sleep in the trailer?

It's just me and my dog right now. Maybe God will fix that some day.

I tow my 1,700lb Aliner (loaded) with my tow modified 2.4l Chevy Cobalt SS. I have been doing so safely, up and down mountains for years. I have 170k miles on my car (12k+ miles towing) and they are both doing great. I enjoy great gas mileage too.

Look at my signature. My Pontiac has a 1,500# tow rating in the USA but a 2,200# tow rating in the UK provided the trailer has brakes. I have towed my 2,000# (loaded) trailer for around 6,000 miles now and it does great.

Here is another, inexpensive option, if you know someone who has a costco membership (and if not, you can get one for $50)
costco tent trailer.
