Just an update. The dealer would not do anything on a warranty for me. One of the techs I was talking to suggested I keep what I have and when I am ready get the new diesel. He was saying so far he hasn't seen many problems with the 6.7 as he did with the 6.0 and the 6.4. Thanks for all the posts! Rick Nice House!

Making oil drinkwater? Not unusual for that era trucks no matter the make. Many are now on a 5k mile oil change. I'll agree with the pulling power, had to use the kids truck one time from the river back to So Cali. Although the torque curve is a bit different than my Cummins, it sure did pull our RV really nice.
Hey Rick (nice name by the way) I certainly don't have a buck to make here, only my experience from having waaaaay to much time researching trucks. No warranty I'd pass. I'd trust the new DEF Fords much more than the one your looking at.
Thanks

No basement and mom lives 1500 miles away.
Yes I guess linking a Ford master tech’s post should prove nothing. If you’d like I could list an entire page of the Ford forums.
Glad your 40k mile truck is doing so well other than what you mentioned. Our sons 08 F250 certainly hasn’t faired so well at about 90k now.
OP asked, sorry real world information ruffled your feathers.
Again you should be fine with the extended warranty OP. Don't leave home without it
piss on the 450 thats a nice house!!!. I like it. will

Did you get the name of the tech? You should have because he is giving it to you straight.

Although.......my boss's husband just blew up his work truck.
A 6.7 diesel.

I said wait, wait, wait, let me take a guess. I said it either lost a HPFP or it dropped a valve.

He said it just lost all power at a stop light and died. It would start but would had no power and just would not go. No CEL.

They took it to a town about 150 miles from here even though there are many Ford dealers closer.

What was it? The tech said dropped valve in #3 cylinder; engine junk. This is a 450 service truck. So much for the CC valve only issue.

Has Ford fixed the valve problems? Don't know. Do they have superceded valves? Don't know. What is the year/ month build date? Don't know. When it's fixed and back at the business I will ask more questions.

Will I have to eat Corvus Brachyrhynchos? Don't know? Hope not.
