I have an 07 Chevy Avalanche with the 5.3 liter. I want to replace my shocks (both front and back). I would like to go with shocks that are made for towing, any recommendations??? Thanks in advance.

I can tell you that Bilstien was the only brand I've used that actually controls porpoising. The Rancho's I tried did nothing for it.

I noticed with our old camper, the rear end would squat down, now with the newer rig (and of course heavier) I brought it home with just the bull nose hitch (no WD bars), but the rear end really squatted down, not sure if I should go with a better shocks or maybe even sort of air bag system.

First you need to get your WD bars installed and set up correctly and see where the rear end sits. Shocks are not used to raise a vehicle, but Air Bags are and could be an option for you. Without the WD set up correctly, you don't know where things stand (or sit).

Bilstein, KYB and Rancho all make good shocks. I prefer Bilstein. I have had all 3 brands on various vehicles.

I have a Ford F-250 and put 4 Bilstein shocks on my truck after reading all the positive things about Bilstein shocks on this site. The Bilstein shocks destroyed the ride on my truck, the ride was choppy and rough. I tried to return them and they wouldn't take them back. I sold them on craigslist for half of what I paid for them. I put Rancho 9000 shocks on which have adjustable settings and I love the Rancho shocks.

Shocks do nothing for ride height. They just control up and down movement. If your rear is sagging, readjust your WD setup. Your TT is a load for that Avy. You'll be at around 7800lbs loaded, so your TW will be close to 1000lbs. Not sure what the tow rating for the reciever is but you could be close to going over. I would put 7 washers in the EQ and make sure you have 12-1400lb bars. As far as shocks go I have run Bilstiens 5100's on our older 08 F150. They were great. On our 10 F150 I went with Ranch 9000's adjustables. Very nice also. If I had to do it again I would go with the Bilstien 5100's again. Cheaper $$. The adjustablitly factor of the Ranchos is nice but the ride of the 5100's was good enough.

There aren't shocks for towing or not for towing.. Shocks will fix one problem or another. The stock shocks on my TRD Tundra were a little soft and I had some bouncies going over expansion joints on bridges, etc. I explored what some of the other Tundra folks did and their experiences with them and went with some Bilstein Heavy Duty ones that people liked. They are stiffer for rebound and for initial damping.
The gotcha with all of this is unless you can find an adjustable one, you may get ones that you may or may not like. The adjustables ones are nice as you can leave them soft for driving around town and then when towing you can adjust them harder to get rid of some of the bounciness from the extra weight.
