When I see those white crosses on the side, I ponder if it was caused by the one who thought it was okay to poke along at 53mph....when the limit for the rest of the world on that stretch of road was 70mph.
Oh, they were feeling good about themselves;
"I'm saving fuel, and the rest of the world too."
"Traffic vigilante is a 'good' thing."
"Look Dear, another one flipped me off when they passed by...."
Feeling content in their own little zone, not having a clue of the horror happening behind them as people try to stop and not knock 'em off the road.
Go with the flow, stay to the right, and never drive static beside another. That's the safe way to travel.

As far as fuel mileage, my Excursion gets way better mileage traveling at 85 mph (my comfort speed) than it does 45 mph. So...no point to this thread. America is all about freedom so you're always going to have people traveling at different speeds on the highway based on their personal choice regardless of the speed sign. No debate from me on this issue. Oh, and by the way....I park in the middle of two parking spaces in the grocery parking lot. Who says I have to fit between 'their' lines. Freedom baby, freedom!
Yup I love those Big Excursions that try taking up two parking spaces. Evertime I see one I let the wifey out and back my little Vitara right in tight to the drivers door. Get out Lock her up and do my shopping. The great little car ain't new so an odd body rash is just another beauty mark and I love the entertainment.
See ya down the road.
I notice that people are unable to travel at the posted speed limit if they are behind a truck pulling a trailer or a truck pulling a trailer and a boat behind that. It seems that there is something in our DNA that makes it impossible for us to stay behind a truck pulling a trailer on the highway. Years ago, I would speed up a bit just to see how bad the passers wanted to get around me and it made no difference how fast I was going, they were going to get ahead of me. Generally, they get around you and then slow down to the speed limit. They just cannot drive behind a trailer on the highway, no matter what the speed limit is and no matter how fast the trailer is traveling down the road. As I have gotten older, that urge has somewhat lessened in me, but not totally.

AMEN X2
Too fast / reckless drivers and too slow oblivious drivers are equally dangerous. "Go with the flow, stay to the right, and never drive static beside another. That's the safe way to travel." I would add, try to be considerate of other drivers. If everyone displayed a bit of courtesy the highways and the world would be a better place.

A BRAZEN EXAMPLE OF THE LACK OF COURTESY FOR OTHERS RAMPANT TODAY!!!!
It is "their" parking lot and it is shared by many it is common courtesy to park within marked lines when possible......
If so many think its OK then don't slow down when you see a cop. Have some ba!!s and explain it to the nice policeman.
Keep speeding, my county and state can use the revenue.....
Some people drive a little over the speed limit. OK with me as long as they are driving and not talking/texting/shaving or anything else distracting.
Some people drive way over the speed limit and are a danger to others, especially when they don't think they need to slow down in congested traffic.
By the way the advice about driving with the flow of traffic means don't try to go 70 when traffic is flowing at 50, it doesn't mean we all need to go 80 if the majority choose. The roads are common areas, paid for by taxes. We need to share nicley, just like you learned in Kindergarten.
Oh, and the guy who says his Excursion gets better mpg at 85 than 45 will lie about other things too.
I run where I get the best mileage and it's not above the speed limit. Why is it when an officer is sitting in the middle or on the side all you see is brake lights. The posted speed is the maximum speed allowed under ideal conditions and in weather conditions it is lowered by common sense. Plan English in snow or rain with slick road condition you can be ticketed for driving the posted speed limit. Tickets are written all the for driving to fast for condition. Same goes for construction zones were you get to pay double and the news has said police in a lot of states will ticket for as much as one mile over the speed limit in these zones.
