I just seem to be a magnet for lost dogs anymore! A week ago Wednesday my other rescue was outside barking, and barking. Wouldn't shut up at all so went out to see what was going on and a little pug was on the other side of the fence. Mind you this was at 9:00 pm so I got the little dog and brought her into the house. Very hungry and just full of fleas. Gave her a bath and fed her and put her in a pet taxi for the night. Got Frontline to put on her and my two rat terriers. Put signs out everywhere I could and one in front of my house. So far no one has claimed her so I guess she is mine, at least for now. If someone shows up and can describe her of course she will go back to her owner.

Now I need to know how to take care of her as I know nothing about pugs and even if she ends up back with her owners I want her to go back in good shape! Any suggestions would be appreciated and TIA!!!

Thank you for rescuing her. They come to you, you know, because of the big red "S" on your chest . . . no, stands for "sucker" not "super," but you are indeed super for being a caring soul. Lost critters always can see it, no matter what you are wearing. And they'll make a beeline for it every time.

That, by the way, is how we came to have a cat, too. Along with a dog we actually purchased.

Bless you for taking this sweetie in! From what I've read, make sure you clean her skin folds religiously, or they get crudy and infected. She must feel so much better after her bath and flea treatment!

Reason your other rescue was barking......asking the pug "Hey what took you so long........told you this was the right place"

I sure hope the "word" stops now, went from two dogs to four and really can't care for anymore! To properly care for an animal can be expensive and I'm on a limited income. I am trying to find a new home for the first rescue, she needs a home with kids to play with. She is high energy and I'm low energy plus I have a 100% disabled husband to care for and that takes a lot out of me. She deserves more than I can give her. I've had her spayed, after presenting me with five pups, so the most expensive part is over, she just needs her shots and good to go. This pug is such a cute little girl but can't find a scar on her tummy so if she ends up with me she will be making a vet visit! Nothing un-fixed on our place, LOL!!!

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. Have to learn how to take care of little Puggles even if she is only here for a little while.

You can also contact the breed rescue groups. They may have a foster family available if it becomes too much for you.

The main issue with pugs is that short snout. It makes breathing problems on exertion, even riding in a car can stress them. Any surgery, even a spay, takes special care by the vet so the trachea doesn't collapse. Thdy don't birth easily, those little square headed puppies often lead to a c-section. They also can't tolerate heat. We had one we loved dearly and lost her to a heat stroke at age 12, because "everybody" thought "somebody else" left her in the house and she was outdoors on a hot day. We had a kiddies play pool and used to put her in it to cool her down. She wasn't the smartest dog we ever had and very stubborn, but absolutely everything she did was funny. They are like little clowns. They also snore loud enough to shake the house. Oh, and they shed year-round! The hair jumps off them like it was jet-propelled. A friend of mine who owned pugs said she solved the problem by getting "pug colored" sofa and carpet. But I loved ours dearly. If I carried her, she felt like a fat little ten month old baby. She never had skin or any other medical problems, other than the breathing. Once our Ching won an ugly dog contest. We were insulted but took the blue ribbon, anyhow. Still miss her.
