I love the cordless drill. Look for one that has the lithium battery. Costco sells these drills very cheap. It is faster than doing it manually and faster than the electric ones. The electric ones are easy to install, but why add them when a drill just takes a few seconds and you can use the drill for other things when faced with an emergency.

I had two trailers with manual cranks, and now a 5th with electric. Mine have worked flawlessly for two years but I have two issues with them. First, they both come down together, meaning I have to add boards under the high one on uneven ground. Two, they are extremely slow. They were on our trailer at purchase, but knowing this now I would have been just as happy cranking down each corner manually as far as needed. Just my take on them.

I think that if you check you'll find that when one pad touches the ground it waits until the other touches the ground before putting any lift on the RV. No need to put blocks under one side on uneven ground.

I hated my electric jack because of what Daryll said and that's how I did it for 2 years. The last day I owned the trailer, I learned how to do it the way Frank&Ranae says. . My new trailer has manual jacks. I think that I may miss those electric ones. The saving grace is that I did buy the "socket" and will carry my cordless!

Buy him a cordless drill. Much more useful around cam and a heck of a lot cheaper to boot.
