Hello. Priced out exterior window coverings for my 06 Pacearrow 37c. Decided to sew them up myself. Tried to find Cool a roo material. No luck. Ended up with some people selling blinds. Any good tips out there? Kind of decent material and website. Thanks.

I doing the same thing today! I'm using black shade cloth from a hardware store. It's the plastic stuff used for shade in yards, gardens etc.and comes in black, brown and beige colors. Only 1.99 a foot and easy to work with. I have made several things out of it..shade screen for our house porch and end sun shades for the rv awning. I'm using elastic loops and Command hooks to attach it to the RV rear window. If it works to lower the temp in the RV, I'll get some of the more expensive and effective cloth for the next one but like you, I don't know where to get the cloth...hopefully someone will be able to give us both some direction.

I just did this a couple days ago, all parts came from Ace Hardware. My dad has a 2004 Itasca and had purchased a screen a few years back. I just copied his and it works on my 2011 Vista. I used Ace SKU 5417696 for the material but any shade cloth should work. Some stores will stock this in there backroom. I cut to the width of window (sorry forgot the dimentions) and wrapped the material at the ends so I could slide a 1.5" flat piece of alum inside, my wife did the sewing. Inside the ends I installed 1 1/2 x 1/8 x 48" aluminmum flat stock. It cut to 44" height. From the bottom end of the flat stock I measured up 17" and drilled a 3/16 hole in the flat stock. I then ran some #10 x 1.25" screws thru the hole and attached a 21" flat black rubber bungee cord to the screw (remove the hooks on the ends). On the other end of the bungee cord I used 1" x 1/8" flat stock aluminum. Cut 11" and bent the tip in my vise. I then drilled several 3/16" holes 1" apart so that I could make adjustments to the bungee cord tention. The flat bend in the 11" piece hooks into the drivers/pass window where they slide apart.

Note how I said I made the flat bar 44" even though I have 48" material. Well the cloth across the window does have a bend/curve to it. If you were to measure about 1.5" from the center of the cloth on one side, cut a curve from one corner to the 1.5" mark and them back to the other corner. On the other side of the shade cloth you will need to measure 1.5" down from each corner, then cut a curve line to the top center of the screen back to the other side that should be 1.5". This will make the cloth look square with the windshield when you put it on. I also put some RTV on the back side of my 11" hooks so it would not rub alum on the glass.

Seems like a good way to cover the glass. What I need is to know where to get some good material. Plan to use twist lock with gromlet to fasten.

You can find this at Home Depot, or order it on line from them.

It is available in different colors. Works great. What I made mine out of.

I use these snaps for my outside solar screens.
Stick on Solar Screen Snaps

I also use a professional grade solar screen.
This stuff is tough, the edges do not have to be sewn, and will not fade over the years.
The 80% has great outward visbility. 90% for ultimat heat bockage.

Hi All.

X2. That roll of Sun-Blockiing Materil, is 10 ft X 20 ft. At Home Depot, in the Gardening Section. More than enough.

I did ours so I could either use them on the "Outside of the Windows" or on the "Inside of Windows" also.

So we have a choice of how we mount them, depending on the weather issues.

Works out great for our needs. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
