RedG wrote: Any certified CJ-4 oil will be fine for today's diesel engines. IMO, Rotella is good oil even though it does look and smell a little funky. I prefer Delo just because it looks cleaner coming out of the jug, but I'm sure it's no better than Rotella or Delvac. I stick with the big 3 and usually buy what's on sale at the time. I think a lot of people get way too anal about oil and way too many people get sucked into the Amsoil hype.
Hype that is your opinion.
368,000 miles on my 98 12 valve at 5,000 miles pull the dip stick oil is dark not BLACK and you still can see the dipstick thru the oil. Yes it is even modified 300rwhp 750 tq rear wheels. Tight clean egine.
Dana 70 rear I broke the pinion gear showing off doing a 4x4 20# launch. Other than the broken gear the gears and bearings still looked new. Severe gear 75-110
At 300,000 miles one upper ball yoint started to go bad. Synthetic grease.
Talk to anyone who knows these trucks and those are high numbers.
99 tahoe I use the Diesel oil, 215,000 miles runs great, all original.
Buy what you want, I do.

You gotta hand it to Scamsoil - they can sell the koolaide.
Rotella works for me. Either conventional or synthetic. And nothing is harder on oil than the HEUI system.

Ive used the rotella T6 and the amsoil, nothing different that I can tell except price. Currently have ford synthetic in my truck, doing oil change will be synthetic T6. Politics has little to do with the synthetics, but if its just the name of the company well..........?

Instead of trying to be funny, how about back up your statements with facts. I give examples of how well it works and you give lousy humor...ok

You don't have any facts. You only have example(s). Every oil brand has examples to brag about. Oil is oil.

Can YOU READ? What did I say??????? I said ..... "I give examples"
I make a comment on what I like and then the critics come out that have no Idea what they are talking about so I asked for facts.
Fact AMZ/OIL was the first to offer 100 percent synthetic oil for the automotive market. Most people don't keep their rigs long enough to know if the oil they use really is as good as the next or not.
I guess when peopld don't know about a product all they can do is criticize.

If there is a difference between AmsOil and Rotella T6 where would you expect to see it, other than in the price?

Maybe you can prove that you wouldn't have gotten the same results from any certified dino oil with recommended OCI's.........
You're an expert on Amsoil but can't even spell it.
They got you hook line and sinker.
My best friend's son has an 03 Dodge CTD with over 360k on it and it's still going strong. Never had a drop of AMZ/OIL in it. He's been through 3 transmissions, 2 transfer cases, a lift pump, intercooler and alternator, but no engine problems using plain old OIL.
