Got a picture? I would ad it to my safety presentation.
I highly agree. We just did our annual saftey training and there were a couple of pics showing what happens when electricity comes out of a grounded foot. It's not pretty.
This is not a criticism or a lecture, but Fabguy's experience should serve as a reminder of what can happen when we get to familiar or comfortable with something, be it a tool, a vehicle, or even a sport/hobby. As a firearms instructor and shooter, I have to constantly remind myself of the potential danger associated with the hobby.

Gee, thanks for sharing! NOT! Just kidding! That would be a great pic for a company-wide safety lesson. I think you were very lucky that it wasn't more serious. Ouch!

In a prior life, used to run a fab shop...you've done well to avoid injury for 35 years. Hopes for a timely recovery.

I hope it gets better soon. Would it be possible for me to get a picture? I spend every minute of my working day (safety professional in heavy construction) in trying to prevent this. If I could use this pic as an example to my 1500+ craft workers, I think it would have a big impact on the guys.

I was lucky; during all my years as an aircraft mechanic/metal fabrication worker, the worst I had was the loss of some hide to a 12 inch disc/belt sander, when it grabbed a small part out of my hand. That, too, was the first joint of a thumb! It was a good lesson, and could have been much worse.
I hope you recover quickly.
