Had BFG's on the last 5er for 4 years no problems and also on both trucks. Just bought a new 5er with brand new Marathons and went in and got new BFG's on it too. Check Discount Tire, I got 4 BFG's installed with a warranty for $900. I think you pay a lot for the name with Michelins just like any product that makes a name for themselves. Still an excellent choice, but there are tires out there now that will do just as well, BFG's being one. We travel a lot in Texas at 70 mph in 100+ degrees over the past 4-5 years with no problems.

We had BFG TA commericials on our truck and they were very good. Steering was great towing and solo driving. I was going to buy this tire again but decided to try the michelin MS2. To compare the tires I looked at the spec's. I was surprised at the different weights of tires. I looked at the duro that comes on the cameo my friend bought in 2011. That is a very lite tire. I was very happy with the BFG tires on the truck and I hope what we bought will be as good. My guess for a fifth is to not twist the tires backing into an rv site.
Just what I feel is common sense tire talk.

With all the stories of belts separating, I have always thought that was the biggest problem with trailer tires is when folks jack their trailer around in a tight turn. I spent a lot of time towing with a short bed and I never had to use the slider hitch. I treat my new truck the same way. I avoid places where I have to get almost 90 degrees. Just watch a buddies trailer tires sometime if you are around and they jack their trailer 90+ degrees.

Just have to add that the uniroyal laredo hdh is also in the michelin family.It is a clone of the bfg commercial ta.Mine have held up fine over 3 years now fulltiming.

The HD-H Uniroyal was OEM for years on the HH II trailers with 6k axles. Great record.
New regs in '08 required 7k axles so HH II had go with the problematic maypops or owners could choose the 17.5" LT option.

I purchased four BFG Commericial TA in LT2257516 LRE for my 2008 Cougar 314BHS trailer about three years ago. These replaced the original 15" Duro ST tires and steel wheels. I purchased the tires, wheels, and road hazard at Discount Tire.
I have put about 4000 miles on these tires with most of the miles being a single trip. The trailer does sit for 6 - 12 months without moving. The tires are covered.
Today, I replaced the four mounted tires with the same size Michelin X-RIBS. The four mounted BFG had all cracked in multiple places around the tread/sidewall seam, and in the middle of the sidewall. I believe this was likely caused by the trailer sitting still for such long periods.

I've read that tires require occasional movement to distribute protective oils. Stored RVs should be moved a least a little occasionally.

Does discount make you bring the wheels/tires in w/out a trailer in order to mount the tires on?
I just ask because when I had walmart put tires on my last trailer they said by law they could only mount trailer rated tires on a trailer (I drove it up there between storage locations.)

No. I backed the trailer up to their side door and they brought four floor jacks out. Left the trailer hooked up to the truck. They told me it was easier to warranty LT tires vs ST tires for cracking. Since they are "truck" tires, they are expected to last longer than the ST tires.

No, Discount will do it, you just have to find one with a decent size lot to get your rig in and turned around. Some have small lots. Walmart is a pain in the butt when it come to buying tires. My daughter and I had a custome VW Beetle Bug that had aftermarket wheels and tires on it. When parked at school someone slashed all 4 tires. I took them off and ran them into Wallyland. They asked what it was off and said nope they would not put the tires I wanted on it because they were not factory???? Had to argue with them and finally they said they would do it but you don't get no roadside warranty lol lol Ooooooooo that worried me lol lol.... I don't know where Walmart gets this law from, I think they are the only ones like that. Probably afraid of getting sued.
