Just decided we are selling our house and bying an rv (5th wheel) to travel mostly western Canada and through the US and use it as a travelling home office. A King bed is a must as well as washer/dryer and full bathroom. Looked at a Heartland Big Country Model 3650RL and fell in love with it. In your opinion, what is a better option and where would be the best place to buy from. We live in Vancouver, Canada and would be willing to get from the US especially in a tax free state if possible. Help !!!

Can't help with where to buy, but I would check with a tax attorney. My thought is if you buy in the US and live in Canada you will have some issues. I know my daughter bought a car in Seattle and had to pay duty when she went to license it in Canada. JMHO

If you are a Canadian citizen importing a RV from the US you will sure be taxed when bringing it into Canada, so compare your local price to the US price+taxes before you purchase.

Heartland is a nice RV, from a good company. Nice Floorplan, well Insulated. Nearly 40 foot long, so it's gonna need a really BIG nice truck! 16,000 lbs! Whew!

Good choice...you might look at Cedar Creek 36RE from Forest River RV's and Jayco's Pinnacle 36KPTS (2 year warranty)...both are also very close to what you want.

Beautiful 5er and if full timing you will probably be loading it up and at 15.5K GVWR you are potentially/most likely in DRW territory since I would want some sort of extra tank in the bed to pick and choose were I purchase that expensive now days diesel.

The "key" is to look for 5er's that are "full time". Some names that come to mind are NuWa, Keystone Montana's, New Horizon and Carriage (went bankrupt last year). May want to get others thoughts on the functionality of washer/dryers. All the above trailers will be heavy.

As far as TV is concerned use 20-25% of the GVWR of the trailer (if you don't have the actual "wet" pin weight) to size the TV.

Do not ever let an RV dealer tell you how much truck you will need to pull any given trailer.

They LIE!

It doesn't matter where in the states you buy, when you register the 5vr for a license plate in Canada, you will have to pay Canadian taxes.

Many folks have purchased through RV Direct with great sucess.

Have a great time on the road.
