Since it is likely how he is driving it I would suggest he do the deletes and go down the road happy once more.

Brother in law owned a '09 RAM with the 6.7 and after several trips to the shop for CEL which was caused by soot build up in the turbo he was forced to unload it after ~9 months and purchased a used 5.9.
I think the 6.7 is fine if you work it hard like pulling heavy loads constantly, but use it as a daily driver with alot of idling and the emissions equipment can be a nightmare on these engines.
His previous truck was a 04 6.0 power stroke that had EGR valves clog, but nothing like his 6.7 cummins turbo issue.
Well, the wife gave me the go ahead to buy this truck if I wanted, so I took it for a test ride.
The truck had tons of power and acceleration, much more than my 6.0L PSD, but the ride was awful. It may have been tire related but you couldn't tell by looking. It ran smoothly at highway speeds but on local roads, I couldn't live with it, at least without a trailer behind.
As much as I hated to, I had to turn it down. I am by no means a Ford fanatic but had to tell the salesperson that it road like a farm truck and nothing like my Ford.

I would go back and check the tire pressure on the truck. Quite possibly, the rears were over inflated for having no weight in the bed. A dually doesn't need any more than 65 psi front or rear for an empty bed.

Your wife must be the breadwinner, it appears. No offense but that is a bit sad, especially in our world of RVing. Not very manly.
Guess we can all tell who wears the pants in your family! It must be emasculating to have to ask your wife's permission to make a purchase. If I tried that with my husband we would be divorced.

I was thinking this could be the problem also or atleast worth checking.

If I remember right my door sticker on my 07.5 Dodge DRW has 65psi front loaded/unloaded and the rears are 45psi unloaded and 65psi loaded.
Funny about the ride quality of the Dodge. Reminds me, a few months ago, I took a client for a site inspection in my '06 Chevy, about a 70 mile drive each way. He had driven GMs for years, apparently, and had just traded his in on a '11 RAM 2500 Megacab; he wanted the extra room. He must have commented a dozen times how much he was missing the ride of the GM.
