Our cat has dry skin or dandruff and we are wondering what to do about it. Anyone with any suggestions? thanks

The vet has a cream (forget the name) that you apply directly to the skin that will take care of this issue and make the cat much more comfortable if that area is sensitive.

Often times dry skin like you describe is a sign of a health condition, like thyroid disease, allergies, etc. Please take your cat in for an examination and perhaps some blood work, if the vet thinks it's necessary.

Well I just took her to the vet a week ago and they said she looked fine. Didn't do blood work since they couldn't find a vein. Maybe I should take her back and let them try again.

Thanks, I will call the vet and see what they have. She still loves to be scratched there and everywhere else.

I've seen a food switch make a huge difference in a pet's coat, even when the food being fed is considered very good. Sometimes even a good food just isn't the right one for that particular pet.

This is common when only dry kibble is fed. It's deficient in oils and fats. Switching to a more normal and appropriate diet for an obligate carnivore will cure this problem. Or you can add some fats/oils to the kibble.

Yes age & diet might be good to help analyze the situation but.... really I am concerned about your recent reply.
A week ago your vet said "she looked fine" and she had dandruff &/or dry flaking skin? And they "couldn't find a vein" to do blood work? I'm thinking that I would be be shopping for a new vet.
