When was the last time the lugs were checked for tightness?

Do your aluminum wheels have the steel insert for the lug nut? If not they need multiple retorques to get seated. But loose lug nets usually leaves some stud pieces.
What style of torque wrench? Click, beam or dial...
If click -has it ever been stored with adjuster set on a torque value or have you used it to loosen nuts/bolts or have you ever torqued left-hand fastener? Any one of the three requires recalibration or replacement -depending on the tool quality.
I stripped a lug a few years ago with my torque wrench, I found out it was 30% off, 100 lbs was actually 130.

I would suspect the quality of the studs.. supplier could have easily received batch of offshore lesser quality studs and passed them on to manufacture.. Big problem in the aircraft industry.. Or you were terribly overweight.

Wheel nuts should always be retorqued after a hundred miles or so. Especially with new hubs. I'll bet they loosened up while motoring down the road.

I'm still trying to figure out why you had it towed. You could have taken that hub off, and put new studs in long before the tow vehicle ever got there. You do carry extra studs don't you?? I lost 2 wheels like that and will never be on the road without extra studs. I also check the torque on them frequently. At any rate it looks like no harm no foul.

Wow. Glad everyone is safe. Why did you load your TV on the flatbed as well? Was the tow driver unable to strap the 5er down to the tow trailer securely?

No way to winch trailer onto lowbed without damage if it was unhitched.

My guess would be defective lugs. It wouldn't be the first time that inferior bolt material is shipped to a final assembler. If that was the case, I'd be very disappointed with Dexter, too. There is a way to have the material tested but it sounds like you left the hub with the dealer.

You should have let him hit the overpass and let his insurance buy you a new TH . Actually that was good thinking on your part or the situation could have been a lot worse.
