I definitely need some expert advice on this topic and will probably also consult with my local auto dealer. I'd like to go a "little" bit larger on tire size than what I have now, which is just slightly larger than stock. However, I don't want to go too big...or may even consider not doing it at all if I get the feeling that I'm putting too much strain on my TV. I'm already pushing the limits of my TT/TV combo, so I need to be careful.

I want to go from a 285/65 R18 to a 305/65 R18. New tire will be approx .8" wider and 1.2" taller. Something to note though is I currently have a Load Range E tire; I don't think I need that. I plan to keep a LT tire but go with a lighter load range, so maybe some of the weight/resistance will wash itself out.

How can I determine if it's okay for me to upgrade my tire size w/out killing my truck while towing????

Would you send the cash you are going to waste to me instead please?
I need it for my gas fund! LOL.

Wow...I new the weight police were gonna come out of the wood work on this one. I guess chuggs is the Sherrif Trust me, I couldn't care less if anybody thinks I'm "cool". Modifying my truck has always been a hobby for me. What I do to it is what is convenient and desirable for ME. I also go off road quite a bit and the larger tires have helped a bit; I live on the beach. I also opted to add fender flares to the truck to protect the body paint. W/out going larger, the tires look a little small for the truck. BUT, it still looks good as is. My intent was to take some of the top heavy look out.

I've had my TV for about 6 years...I just started towing about 1 year ago. I'm still learning. What I will probably do sometime in the very near future is just purchase a larger TV. I've been looking around.....plan to keep my F150 for my fun and buy a 250 for work and towing. I just need a bigger garage

I appreciate those of you that offered sincere and honest feedback. Not wasting my time with any of the rest. I hadn't had time to consult with me dealer on this yet; I will do that on Monday. In any event, you've already convinced me to stay where I'm at. I would much rather stay safe and protect my TV over pushing the limits for aesthetics.

It looks to me like everybody gave you sincere and honest feedback except for one attempt to be humorous. I don't see the need for that last comment at all. You asked for help and you got it.
Guess it is time to close this one.
