I have been living in Indiana my Motor Home is registered in Indiana. When full timing, I am going to have a Tennessee Address. I have a Permanent Tennessee VA License Plate that I had on a former Motor Home. My Former Motor Home was beyond repair so I had it junked.
How do I get my current Motor Home Registered in Tennessee so I can use the Tennessee VA Plates on it?

God Bless!

The best place to ask your question is to the Tennessee Department of Motor Vehicles. They will give you the correct answer. Anyone posting on here may or may not know the correct answer. You can probably Google the Tennessee DMV and find their website that probably will answer your question as well.

Once you have your TN address register it in the state like any other vehicle.

Establish your TN 'domicile' address....this can usually be done via e-mail/on-line
Get your TN drivers license.....will need to meet residency requirements
Register your MH in TN..........will have to meet registration requirements & inquire IF other MH plates can be used or get new TN VA plates

All correct/accurate info needed to accomplish the above can be found via TN DMV & 'mail forwarding services'

I would guess as we did. Just apply for a Lic. for TN. Give them your new TN. Address. You will have to get a new DL also correct?

Maybe I am missing something here.

The OP should call up the office of the TN county clerk that they're going to live in and ask the question:

"I have these TN perm VA plates from a MH that I no longer have and I'm moving back to TN from Indiana in my Indiana-registered MH. When I re-register the new MH in TN can I put my TN perm VA plates on the new MH - and what do I need to do in order to do this?"

You will probably need to get a new tag for the MH. After you set up your new address in TN, go to the county tag office and they will answer your questions, take your money, issue you a tag or transfer the VA tag to your new MH.

Don't forget your TN DL and Insurance with new address.

If you are referring to a permanant Simi tag. I don't beleive these can be transferred, also thought the perm. tag were for trailers only not a motor driven vehicle. Check with DMV.

Good luck

Talk with the County Clerk in the area that you are establishing residency. In order to register a vehicle in Tennessee you will have to present a Tennessee DL. Here you can transfer a tag from one auto, truck, etc. If it has been a while since it was on another vehicle and that title was cancelled then you will probably have to get another one. The semi tag is only good for personal trailers 18' and under. Good Luck and welcome to Tennessee.

I have Tennessee tags and I'm pretty sure you can't put a motor vehicle tag on a trailer. But like others have said you need to get the info straight from the horses mouth. And you can find everything you need to know at this web site including telephone numbers if you need them.
