Looking for someone that has perhaps stayed at Kyllonen's RV Park. We have reservations this summer and this is one of the few parks (if not the only) that was billed as having a little room between campsites however I read in a camping guide that this is not the case. Anyone? Thanks

You will find that most of the private and city campgrounds here do not have much room, sometimes a matter of only several feet when slideouts are out. I have driven by Kyllonen's RV Park and during the height of the season and it does look quite cozy in there.
The season here is quite short. The camp grounds have to make their money when the tourists are here so they pack them in. At the Anchor Point boat launch you can excess the beach for free camping but you have to have 4 wheel drive and a little savy when driving in beach sand but there you will have more room.
In Homer is the city beach parking. On the right side of the spit it is not staked out so sometimes you can get a little more room. On the left side the spaces are divided by logs so again quite close.
Deep Creek on the beach seems to alittle more spacious, maybe Sue, "Fullmoonoversalem" will chime in here. She was host there for several years.

With this trip 2 years in the planning I do know what your talking about as far as space. It's cram as many as you can get in a given area which, with the short season I can understand. We have the reservations at Kyllonen's and we're going to go with it. I think the little piece I read in Woodalls was inaccurate. They made it sound like you wouldn't get a slide and an awning out at the same time. Confirmation of someone that stayed there would be nice though. Thanks
I have not been to that particular campground, but as a general rule, like Joe B said, every private campground in Alaska is pretty tight.
Expect to be asked to back up, unhook your toad, or unhook your tow vehicle. Some are so tight that you cannot extend your awning, but I have never been in one where I could not extend my slide. However, if you have slides on both sides, you may have issues at some places.
For the most part, all the state/government campgrounds have tons of space in comparison. What you give up in lack of hookups, you gain in space and privacy.

Stopped at the Kyllonen's RV Park today on our way back from Homer. Altho small it looked to have adequate room between camp sights. If your located on the river side there is a very nice view where the river enters the inlet and of Cook Inlet. If on the road side not much of a view but it is only a short walk away. It is about a half mile walk to the beach at the tractor boat launch. I was suprised to see the sign say full hook ups and showers, I thought it was a dry campground. I would suggest you try and request one of the sites overlooking the river with the view, the road side is quite close to the road and I know they have alot of traffic going to the tractor launch. I also suggest to bring good ear plugs for sleeping, you may need them in other places that you camp. The logging trucks love the Jake Brake especially when campers are along the roads. We have stayed at Kyllonen with a 40ft mtorohome and it was wonderful. Yes the sites are pretty tight but plenty of room for slides etc. It has full hookups. Hook mentioned ear plugs for the traffic. We were not hassled by any traffic. The tractors stay down at the beach, so you can't hear them from the campground. It's an awesome little campground with visits from the moose and eagles and they have a wonderful coffee bar.
