I am looking for a RV campground the end of June thru the first part of July (9 days) and I am wondering which is the best side to stay of the Mackinaw bridge-- St Ignace or Mackinaw City. Also if you have any RV parks to recommend I would appreciate that also. I have not been in the area before so the information would really be helpful.

I would recommend the St. Ignace side.

The town is much prettier, and the trip to the island is shorter and probably less crowded.

We stayed at Tiki RV Park, which was adequate. Some sites are fine for large rigs and some are not. Of course a lot of campgrounds are like that. You can bike to town, which we enjoyed.

I vote for Mackinaw City side and a stay at the Mackinaw Mill Creek CG which has a wonderful view of THE BRIDGE.

Have stayed on both sides and while both sides have their unique qualities, for that amount of time I would too recommend Mackinaw Mill Campground. You will still want to spend the fees for the bridge crossing one or two days for exploring that part of the UP. St. Ignace has fireworks every Saturday night over the harbor. You can day trip up to Sault Ste Marie to the Soo Locks also.

Would also go with Mill Creek but get your reservations in early if you want down by the water or site with good view of the bridge.

Another vote for Mill Creek! nice place right on the lake with some very nice views if you get one of the spots out along the water (not really on the water, but 150-200' back fromn the lake.)

Straits state park, in St Ignace, just over the bridge also has great views of the bridge. We found Mill Creek to be a parking lot with tight sites. Unless you like that sort of thing. I prefer the beauty of the state of Michigan state parks. Cheaper too.
