My coffee maker crashed last camping trip so I am in the market for a new one. I was thinking of purchasing a thermal pot coffee maker. Is there a brand that you would recommend and why? Thanks!

Bunn.....because it makes coffee very fast, keeps it hot and lasts a long time. Kinda pricey to start with, though.

Others may disagree but, no more than we used our coffee maker in the RV, (maybe 2 days a month agerage), we used a cheap countertop model and bought a thermal carafe to pour it in when finished. We then could unplug the unit and put it away if finished, and drink out of the carafe. Worked for us for almost 10 years. Now if you fulltime or use your RV quite a bit, investing in a good coffee maker makes sense.........

Melitta coffee filter on top of Nissan thermos.
Heat water with electric kettle (can use for tea also). When boondocking, heat water on stove.
Pour water through fresh ground coffee beans, coffee goes into thermos and stays hot and fresh for hours.
Has worked flawlessly for about 40 years.

Mr Coffee - this model
I agree with pouring the coffee into a GLASS lined thermo canister.
We bought a West Bend...junk. Tossed it.
We bought the above Mr.Coffee maker and love it. Makes HOT coffee and then we pour what we don't drink immediately into a GLASS lined thermos. Stays hot most of the day.
We bought the model that has a regular or stronger brew option button. We use two big scoops for 10 cups of coffee on the stronger setting.
I don't use the water filters for it but I DO use the round thingy the filter would go in...it holds the paper filter in place so it can't flop over during brewing.

I like my coffee hot.
We tried the thermal for a while but it didn't do a good job.
If it's a cold morning and the metal pot is cold you will get cool coffee. Having to pour hot water in the pot before you use it gets old fast. That second cup is always cool no matter what you do.
Ours was a Black & Decker and the lid was fussy, a pain to align it to close properly.

When we were full timing we used an electric coffee maker. Not a Bun. The Bun stays on all the time keeping the water hot 24/7. I can wait the little extra time required for the water to heat. We use the Cuisinart 14 cup glass pot model.
For short camping trips like we do now we have the Melita funnel that takes the #6 cone filters. The Melita is constructed to fit over any thermos. We just heat the water on the stove. The stainless thermos keeps the coffee hot enough for us, especially when we are on the road. The biggest problem is all of the electric coffee makers take #4 cone filters. It is hard to find the larger #6 cone filters. Had to buy the #6 filters on the internet.

My CEO/Navigator doesn't drink coffee so it is just me. I use the single cup Keurig Coffee Maker. I use water that is filtered in a Britta pitcher. Great coffee.

I agree.
We use one and what coffee doesn't get drank in the morning is put in the refer unit for iced coffee latter.
We have an old 10 cup stove top aluminum coffee pot that we boil the water in.
