I just paid my 5er insurance with Progressive "full coverage" which also included full replacement for the new trailer and it was $437 for the whole year.

I called GEICO today and the guy that helped me actually tried to talk me out of full replacement option. He said the actual claims paid out under this option is miniscule. I didn't argue but had him price the option anyway. I had it on our motorhome we just sold. I had really never thought (or read the fine print, like I should) about what kicks in this clause. Probably if it is destroyed under comp or collision? If the coach is destroyed at the fault of someone else I would assume you would be at the mercy of the other guy's insurance, who would want to pay book value.

Anyway, we have a few weeks before the fifth wheel we ordered will be here so have time to shop for insurance.

I have a 5th wheel insured with Hartford Ins. It was added on to the policy which insures our car and PU truck. No liability because that is covered by the tow vehicle while the trailer is hitched to it. It is insured for $13000, the purchase price of the rig. Annual premium is $27. Yes thats it, twenty seven dollars.

That is similar to what I pay with Allstate, attached to my auto policy but I think you will find this is NOT for replacement cost. It will be prorated for the depreciated cost, just like your auto.

Good Sam (GMAC) switched from GEICO for my truck and wife's minivan and saved $600 per year for same coverage, added 5th wheel at replacement cost etc. for $200 per 6 months.

"If the coach is destroyed at the fault of someone else I would assume you would be at the mercy of the other guy's insurance, who would want to pay book value. "

My Nationwide policy would, in that case, pay me the difference between what the other company paid, and what they would have paid.

Unless "someone else" committed a felony (evading) while in the process of destroying the trailer. In this case, the insurance company that represents the person who destroyed the trailer denied all claims. This actually occurred to a neighbor, but luckily he has full replacement insurance.
