I've had THESE SHEARS for several years and they are wonderful, but the two halves have started coming apart in use. I figured I could find out how to tighten them online, but so far no luck. Does anybody know? I don't understand the little gizmo that holds them together. Thanks for any help.

I don't know about the scissors, but I do know Williams-Sonoma. If you write them they'll respond quickly with a reply --- at least that's been my experience with them.
IF you should strike out, consider Cutco scissors. They are guaranteed forever and you do not need a receipt. I have a friend who bought a Cutco knife with a broken tip at a garage sale. She mailed the knife to Cutco and they mailed her a new knife, no questions asked. I have the Cutco scissors and they similarly separate for cleaning. I have never had a problem with them.
But, I hope Williams-Sonoma takes good care of you just the same.
I actually bought them from Amazon two years ago. I sent them the order number and described the problem. They sent me a mailing label to return them and are sending a new pair! I hadn't even thought of that. I assumed there was a way to tighten them that I was missing, so thanks for the info! These are great shears, BTW, I use them for everything.
I believe the halves to which you refer are held together with a rivet. You could try heating it with a torch and then flattening it with a ball peen hammer.

I don't have the same kitchen shears, but mine are made to come apart for cleaning... gotta clean those nasty little pieces of raw chicken out of there after cutting up the bird.

Yes, mine are made to come apart so you can put them in the dishwasher. Very handy, but then they started coming apart in normal use. It must be a known problem, because Amazon immediately told me they are sending a new pair. Thanks for the idea, I hadn't even thought of that.
