I checked on the recall after the first tire separated and it didn't apply to the tires I had. They are a later run and different size.

On a funny note the day after the second separation I got a customer satisfaction survey from Continental. Think I was polite?

None of mine were on the lists! They told me it was rare with the F450's

Had a F 350 05 That came with the Continetal tires. I was farming at the time, and also pulled the 5th a lot and bumper pulled a Kubota tractor. The tires stood up, but the mileage was terrible. 05s came out with the 17 inch and when I needed tires very feel companies had a tire to replace with. Finally found Nitto, and it was good, but still not good mileage out of them. Finally bought the mileage.

My 2008 F450 came with 19.5 Continentals. they have not worn well. The fronts were done at 18,000 and the rears are close to replacement at 36,000 miles.
Idon't know what to next. Michelins used to be the best, but recently they don't sound good.

$100.00 load range E tires are AWFULLY cheap tires. don't know if that's an issue or not but most are well over twice that price.

The stock Continental Contitrac tires on my Expedition EL experienced tread separation last year at 40k miles, lots of tread left. The Expy is mostly our famly hauler, only tows a few times a year. They were not part of the recall. I got no love from Ford (past the 36k mile bumper to bumper) or Continental. I replaced all 4 on my dime. I bought the highly regarded Yokohama HT/S (I don't need the AT/S) as replacements. So far I am really happy with them. They are smooth and very quiet. I will never buy continentals.

Same with me, I had 27500 miles on the Continentals when I replaced them and would maybe have made it to 30000 miles. I will say though that most of those miles were towing but still 27500 miles is bad!!!!!

Just about to turn 40k on my 2010 F250 with 17" Continentals. Don't know if they're on the bad list or not. I did get 100k miles out of my Michelins on my 2500HD Dodges, weather checking and all. A friend replaced his 100k mile Michelins with Coopers and now has over 120k miles on those tires. He keeps 'em aired to 70psi and uses the truck daily. Sitting is one of the worst thing you can do to tires. 17500 miles on an '09 gives me the impression it sits a lot.
