Makes you think about all the families that never were because of the supreme sacrifice those young guys gave.
Words can't tell the appreciation I have for the members both living and passed of our armed forces.

Thank you very much for the trip report. it is so very sad to recall these events and yet very necessary to remember the fallen and the survivors and the sacrifices they all made for freedom.

Thanks for the pictures. My Father rests under one of those many markers in the American site. I know the grave is near a tree and also there are other trees among the graves but I could have been looking at his marker.

What a great post. Very moving. I really would like to thank you for this. It a sobering reminder of the sacrifices that were made (and are STILL being made) by kids just barely out of high school to preserve our freedom. I have payed my respects at many battle sites and memorials, Arlington National Cemetary, The Little Bighorn, The Alamo, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Vietnam Vetrans Memorial, as well as many others and each one is unique. It make me realize that I really have NO problems because of the fine young men and women who serve our country. Thank you to all who have served.

So many people in Europe were subjected to such terror and destruction all because of the fanaticism of a few.
The images of the reminders of the D Day battles are very sobering.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Your truck and camper combo must get a few stares/comments when you travel in Europe.

Thanks for a moving trip report. I would love to be able to see many of the D-Day memorials but will probably never make it but to see them through your eyes is about as good. After visiting other war memorials as Bubtoofat h.as I can certainly understand your feelings when being on the old battlefields. Thanks for your efforts writing the report.
