They're putting it in a flooded market which has no fond memories of the original Dart from the early '70s.
I am of the opposite opinion on the Dart. It has some cutting edge features/technology, hot styling, fuel efficient engine choices, and a cheap price. It's just what Chrysler needs in their portfolio, and I think it will sell like hot cakes to young people. JMHO.

One of my co-workers showed up today in his new Challenger. Not sure what trim but it has the hemi with 6 speed, 3.92 gears, leather interior, dark blue. with some kind of lowering kit from the factory. While I think the Challenger is a bit bloated compared to the Pony car competition, this is one great looking, tire smoking beast. Maybe not what the majority of car buyers want but I sure am glad that it is available, much like the others. I think Chrysler will be around for a long time. I think there is a real awareness now of the importance of buying American made products(or at least what people think an American product is). This new car joins his two other Challengers, a 68 and 72 model year cars.

New Dart is a failure? I've only seen positive reviews so far. We will see how the market takes it, but I also expect it to be a winner.

I agree. What hurt Chrysler when gas prices skyrocket a few years ago as there was a big move to economical gas saving cars, and the only thing Chrysler offered was the Neon. Honda, Toyota, Nissan and many others cleaned up. Chrysler was loaded with hemi-powered gas guzzlers.
Everything Hemi is over 5000 pounds, and over $35,000. What's needed is a 3000#, under-$25,000 RWD 2-door Dart. True Mopar is dying. And you two are looking to be part of the lynch mob.

The 300 and Charger are 4000 pounds. The Challenger is slightly under that. Have you looked at the sales numbers of 2-door cars? Great for enthusiasts but sold in ery low volumes. That might be something good for Chrysler in the future, but IMO this is too early in their recovery process to build more niche cars.
Not really sure why virtually all cars sold today are now FWD, but I am sure there is a market reason.
What is your definition of "True Mopar" and why am I part of the lynch mob?

I had a 1973 Dodge Challenger with the 340, slapstick, etc. Man I loved that car. The new Challengers just flatout look FANTASTIC. It makes up for the EPIC FAIL that Dodge now calls the Dodge Charger.

Oh I have no doubt that they are loaded, nice on the inside, fast..etc.
A Dodge Charger should NEVER have been made into a 4 door sedan, no matter how nice and sporty they look (and my daily driver is a Pontiac Grand Prix GXP with the 327 V8, and I owned 3 Ford Taurus SHO's so I like sporty sedans)...
