Two weeks ago we traveled on Highway 71 and they were extremely lovely between Llano and Brady

Between Llano and Fredericksburg on Rt. 16 a couple of weeks ago..you can also acess the Willow City Loop from Rt. 16. They may stil be pretty now, seems like they are lasting longer this year than in years before.

I'm right on Hwy 71 between Austin and Bastrop. There are still some wildflowers along the road but it seems like the best blooms are already gone. You could also visit this website for more info. Just like with the fall foliage back east, the best time each year can vary depending on the weather.

I went down to Dallas last week for the Jimmy Buffett concert. I was really looking forward to seeing the bluebonnets as I had heard that they had a bumper crop this year. Unfortunately, they had already mowed the ones down along my route on Highway 75. Hope you are able to find some because they are really beautiful.

There was a good link on Facebook this year Texas Bluebonnet Sightings with lots of pictures and directions to the most spectacular fields. The consensus seems to be that the best is over for this year.
As already mentioned, best times vary depending on weather, but a good rule of thumb is that they will be good in the weeks just before Easter.
Several towns hold bluebonnet festivals - typically scheduled in April between the 10th and 20th.
