I am traveling from Michigan to Destin in a 37' with toad.
After Montgomey it appears I am being routed off of I-65 (state roads 106,31,55,84,29,189,85,20)to Destin.
Any concerns about non RV friendly local roads along the way?
Thanks in advance

I am going from Destin to Montgomery in a few weeks, and figured out the following route. This is the first time travelling in that direction, but for what its worth, here is my route to the interstate:

West on Highway 98 to FL 293 North, Danny Weurffel Parkway and Mid-Bay Bridge.
Take ramp to FL 20 West, and turn right to FL 85 North.
Left on US 90 W, West James Lee Blvd. 3.9 miles.
Right onto FL 4 West, 4.6 miles. Left onto FL 4 West, Georgia Ave., 23.4 miles.
Right onto FL 87 North, 7.2 miles to Alabama, becomes AL 41 North 7.9miles.
To US 31 North 26.3 miles.
Left to US 84 West to Junction 93 on I-65 North.

Hope others who know the roads will comment and make any other suggestions. I understand there could be a few speed traps in the area!

This is the route we go, as well. Rural country roads, no low bridges, pretty scenery. Just be very careful about the police in Andalusia. I never go through there without seeing someone pulled over for something.

You actually have the best and fastest route selected. Going U.S. 331 takes you through a few small towns and a few stoplights in Alabama. The route you have chosen has mostly four lane roads except for U.S. 29 and Alabama 137/Florida 189. It's also the route that has been outlined on the Google Maps posts above.

When you get north of Niceville while on Florida 85 south, make a left turn on College Drive (you'll see a Tom Thumb store on the right and a sign for Northwest Florida State College on the left) and follow it around Niceville to Florida 20. You'll avoid heavy traffic and numerous stop lights that way. The Mid Bay Bridge Authority is building a bypass that does the same thing, but it won't be ready for another two years and of course, will have a toll.

I was just going to say go south until you couldnt go anymore then turn left... hehe... Sometimes I just say go to Wichita Falls and then turn left... Or just drive until the wife says "where are we" - then turn left...

Hope you survived "south blvd" in Montgomery all OK. That is one big "war zone" down there. Last time we was down that way all of the old nice business things up and down South BLVD were all boarded up and steel bars on all the windows. One trip was there looking for an eating place after we setup at the camp site on I65 and South Blvd and the local police pulled us over and told us we really shouldnt be down here haha... Real scary place to us... We dont go to Montgomery anymore to overnight...

all kidding aside looks like you got a lot of good answers. We like the US90 or is it US98 camp sites as well....

If you're going to Topsail which is actually about 12 miles east of Destin, 331 is an easy route. It's mostly 4 lane now and bypasses have been added for Opp and Freeport. I've been multiple time per year the last few years and have traveled most of the routes and 331 from Montgomery is they way I go. Again, this has a lot to do with Topsail being east of Destin and you miss any Destin traffic which can be heavy on a weekend afternoon.
