Woudl like to know the best route for pulling a fifth wheel from Three Rivers Ca. to El Potal Ca. (just outside Yosemite partk). I have been told to head north on highway 99 all the way to Merced and then head east. Have also been told to exit 99 at Fresno and head north on 41. Is 41 a good road or will it make our pet sea sick? Thanks for any help.

Your pet will get sea sick on 41 or 140 no matter which route you choose your in the mountains. I would go Hwy 41 and watch the signs once you enter the valley floor, follow signs to 140. Good luck with Barffy.....

I myself like Hwy. 140, to me it is a easier, more straight drive.

There is a length restriction on 140 between Mariposa and El Portal. If your destination is El Portal and you have a long total length there are only 2 options:
From the south 41
From the North 120
HWY 140:
VEHICLES OVER 45 FEET ARE PROHIBITED & 1-WAY CONTROLLED TRAFFIC FOR ALL
OTHER VEHICLES 20 MI EAST OF MARIPOSA (MARIPOSA CO) 24 HRS A DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK
- DUE TO SLIDE REPAIRS

I talked to Keith at the campground and he said that I can unhook my toad going thru the construction but I probably really don't need to do so. My rig and toad are more flexible that a semi. Call him and see what he says. Also, in the driving directions on the campground website it says that the campground is 22 miles from Mariposa, soooooo, the construction is two miles from the campground on the way there. When are you going?

When are you going? We are headed there this saturday the fifth of May. I don't have phone service where we are right now so I emailed Keith and he said many vehicles longer than forty five feet take the bridge daily so I guess we will.

Has anyone crossed the temporary bridge just outside the park near El Portal on highway 140? Is it pretty narrow and how is the approach?
