Perhaps we need to formulate an obituary for RV.Net?

Add me to the "can't get on rvnet" - I am here through the gs site. Glad to know it's not me (or my computer), hope the tec gets it straightened out after he/she has enjoyed the weekend.

It seems to be more than a year since the last round or "which portal is working today?" Have not had problems at RV.net/forums in at least that time but today I have not had any luck accessing through that portal.

As for lurker nag screen, if you don't want to give them your email address, than got to hotmail or gmail or yahoo and set up a new email for just this forum and then ignore it. (You might want to check it once in a while in case you get an offer of a free Irish Sweepstake ticket). You just need to pick up the confirmation email and reply then your done with the address.

Check your settings. There isn't a problem.

Yeah there is, you just got lucky..

As for the lurkers, unless something has changed, you need to sign up on each portal, and I have. But I'm not signed ON more than one at a time, hence if there is a link in a thread that points to any other portal, then the Lurker nag comes up. Don't know how many portals it's actuall on tho

Ummm... All of the portals point to one server, regardless of where you enter. Same people, same info., to the same place.

What IS irritating if following a posted link back into the server but through a point not where I signed on, and getting the Lurker screen...

That is the nag screen. Nag screens (actually a popup) are called that because they repeatedly nag at you to do something, in this case, register. Someone who has registered directly with rv.net will not get the nag screens.

And yes, it is bloody annoying when having entered rv.net through a portal, then clicking on a link, getting the misbegotten nag screens.

I wonder if it's something in your settings --- or my settings. I never get the "nag screens"..... No ads whatsoever!!!

It has nothing to do with settings. Nag screens aren't ads. They are the popup most folks in this threads have been calling lurker notices that pop up every couple of minutes or so if you haven't registered, nagging you to do so. You are probably directly logging into rv.net which would explain why you don't get them.

I know what they are, and as mentioned I only see them when there is a link in a post pointing back to a portal I'm not logged onto.

Either way, the RV.net portal appears healthy this morning
