Given the size and weight being increase going from a 15" to a 16" wheel, I was wondering if there were issues doing this? Increased pressure on the bearings and spindles?

Only issues I can see are tire diameter, lug nut hole pattern.

I'm not going to exceed the weight of the axle. I have issues with using tires with names I've never heard of made in a foreign country.

There should be 15" LT tires available that will work fine on axles of that rating. Maxxis Bravo is one. There are others.

Here are the specs on the Goodyear Wrangler HT:

I have considered a Michelin 235/75r15 LTX M/S2 but 2 things about it, its P rated not LT and I thought the tread was a little aggressive for a trailer.

??? Tire and wheel size has nothing to do with the axles, bearings or spindles.

i have been running 245/75-16E tires on my car hauler with 3500 axles for about 8 years now. the only thing i have noticed is a little bit of a loss in breaking performance due to the diameter. we did break a spring hanger the other day with well over 20k on that trailer.
