Hmmm, never really thought about it, but then usually have kids sleeping there, if necessary, and never had a problem. I guess it would depend on what type of weight you plan to have on it. I personally don't think its necessary.

Yes I would, and have done it. The table is only made from particle board and WILL warp after time.

I suppose it would depend on how often you plan on using it. On our last TT we used it all the time for the Kids friends and never had a problem. (very little weight) If you were going to have adults sleep on it all the time I think I would look into doing some reinforcing.

I plan to. Mine is made out of molded fiberglass. No way I would use it for a bed till I get it done. I plan to use 3/4 ply for mine. Enough room under it so it wont show.

Like many things, it depends on the details. Depends on how stout your table is before reinforcing it and who is sleeping on it (size wise). Usually the bed is occupied by smaller children but for weak tables and heavy adults things may be different. I doubt if the table in my Jayco pop up would support larger adults for very long because it barely supports itslef (warped badly enough that it is necessary to find something to LEAN a coffee cup against at breakfast time

Do you have the 4" round table legs with the round anchor posts on the floor and under the table?

We made 2 "short" legs out of PVC pipe and used those as support when the dinette was made into a bed.

When we had our HTT, DH took the table and used it as a pattern and cut one from 3/4 plywood. Finished it by sanding and poly. He also put another "leg" undernear the middle back and front using a piano hinge. We cut a spot out of the middle so the table leg would fit in. It worked great and DH is a BIG, BIG man - 6'3, 340.

I have not yet but have plans to use 2" stiff PVC and make the frame of a box whose height is perfect to support the botton of the table. this should prevent any warping when I use it for adult guests. Should be about a $20 project.

My '72 Starcraft has two metal stiffeners screwed into the underside of the table. The table is still straight at 40 years old.
