I called the Guilford, Ct Walmart to check if they allowed motorhomes to park for a few hours layover, and they said I'd have to check with the manager on duty when I got there?

Kind of defeats the purpose of calling ahead, but I don't want to sound like I'm entitled to this benefit.

We'd probabaly be there only 4 to 6 hours, have a class c and will be towing a car.

Has anyone had any experience with this Walmart in particular that would help me decide whether or not to take a chance on the manager allowing us to park?

TIA

The Alstays Walmart guide indicates that you can. Even when allowed, I have found some North East parking lots laid out in a way that makes it difficult to park a long rig. You may have to disconnect the toad.

Guilford is one of those towns with lots of laws about things like staying over night in parking lots, walmart may not have a problem but the town may have a law. Not sure when your heading that way but there are a two state parks, Hammonasset and Rockey neck that are right off I95 and a large TA truck stop just before Guilford heading north. Normally one state park opens late april the other I think a week before memorial day weekend. There is also a Pilot truck stop in milford CT 15 or so miles south of guilford also right off I95 if thats the way your going. Also a walmart in West Haven CT a town with less laws but not sure about overnight stays.West haven is the next town north of milford and I have seen RV's at the branford ct walmart ,closer to guilford and again right off I95 . good luck and safe travels.

We had initially planned to stay one night at the Hammonassett Beach State Park, but found they required a two night minimum (our trip is June 15th), and we don't want to pay for a night we're not going to use.

Thanks for the advice on alternatives, we'll do some more research to see which fits our ultimate destination (Eastham, Mass) best.

Have stayed at the Walmart in West Haven just off exit 43 of I95. There is a big separate empty parking lot off to the right side of the Walmart (owned by Walmart) you can stay in overnight. Again, check with the manager first.

stop at Hammonasset and tell them you need to stay overnight only, they will put you up in the parking lot. If no sites are open. Walkins can camp for 1 day. Current fee is $20. We camp there a lot and will be there on the 15th.

They have put a gate across that part of the parking lot so if you stay there you would have to be in the main lot .
