I would be concerned with the "Winged". For a boat trailer or a PUP with a wheeled tongue jack maybe...but a heavy TT would be just asking to bend the tongue tube if it is extended for hitching height.

I just walk back and forth a few times.

I look at the ground and judge distance back and right/left.

Then, I look out my open door as I prepare to back up and pick a point the exact distances on the ground. I back until that spot is right below me and go take a look.

I can usually get lined up in less than four trips back to check.

I put a piece of blue masking tape on the top center of the tailgate of the truck. I have a canopy so I lift the canopy door, line the blue tape up with the tongue jack. works 95% of the time.

Remember where the TT is when it's hooked, that's the place you have to back up to. Back up untill you're close then get out and look. As others have said, if you need to back up another ft then look at the ground and back up a ft and get out again and look. If you get out 2 or 3 times that's not a big deal.

I tow with my Chevy Tahoe and I use one of the iBall wireless cameras. I've played around with where to stick the camera (It has a magnetic base). I think the spot I like best is to open the tail hatch and stick to the lip- then I get a bird's eye view of the hitch. I've also stuck it to the propane tank on my trailer, and when I want to back into a site I go stick it on the back bumper of my travel trailer.

I used to use the HF balls, but my current TT doesn't have a flat enough spot on the hitch to stick the magnet to it consistently.

I use one of these over the tailgate of my truck. It will also fasten to the rear glass of a SUV.

Desert Captain gets my vote. Like getting to Carnegie Hall. Here's a tip. Using the rearview mirror, my wife uses a letter in the word "Leer" in the center of the rear window of our pickup's cap and lines it up with the center of the front of the trailer (the front is shaped as a horizontal "V"), and she lines up straight almost every time. All that's left is to get out on the ground a couple times to check distance. A decent camera is expensive and knocking the magnetic stick off the ball was a pain as the one we had usually fell or blew off before we could get back in the truck. You'll get it and feel good about it before you know it.

Forget all of the money wasting gizmo's just get out and practice a little. Go slow and get out to check a couple of times as you get close and soon you will be "on the ball". Saw an add for a camera system that said "Which would you rather do, spend you time lining up your hitch or enjoying your trip?" What a joke, for lots of money they make it easier??? I don't think so. Once you get it down you will be taking about a one minute or less to line it up, save your hard earned money for a nice bottle of wine (or two).

X2 on this.....practice a bit an in no time you'll be a pro...Takes me under 5 minutes by myself to hook up and be ready to go.

This is exactly what I do.
