We love our fiver, but looking down the road a while a Class A may better meet our needs. My problem is that when we were trying to decide on which type of RV to buy, we rented a Class C as well as a Class A diesel pusher.

The DW wasn't happy with the ride on either of those units. The C rode like a hay wagon. Extremely stiff, very harsh over bumps. The C is clearly not for us!

The A (Holiday Rambler DP) rode decently up front, but there was so much rattling of cabinets, dishes, etc that it irritated the Marital Unit and scared the $&@$ out of the dog.

There are several gasser floor plans that interest me, but I don't want to buy something the DW hates. Are some manufacturers better at making their coaches smooth on the road?

I have a 17 year old DP that does not ride on air bags and don't have that problem! Most DPs are well constructed and ride well. And I always thought the Holiday Rambler was a good coach, but that one sounds unusual.

And Class A gas will ride worse that a DP!

The HR rode "okay", but it was all the attendant rattling and banging that ruined it for the DW.

The diesel pickup pulling the fiver is much quieter. I'm looking for an equivalent ride/noise level in a Class A.

Put the wife inside the fiver and she would probably tell you the DP was a quieter and smoother ride.
I don't think it's fair to count a Class A ride to your F350. F350 is going to be smooth and more comfortable to drive. That is one of the great things about a 5th wheel.

Z-man, you are ruining my well-crafted scheme to get her into a DP!! LOL

The fiver already has better headroom, more living area, and bigger tanks. If you tell me the ride is just going to be worse no matter what, my goose is cooked.

I guess I'll head back over to the fiver board! Surely something can be done. I want the DP for the ability to pull a bike trailer, easier set up, and more comfortable Wallydocking. Don't crush my dreams, bro!

Our Winnebago Destination - Class A; rear gas; rides very smoothly. We did upgrade the shocks; and adjusted tire pressures to match the weight being carried. On a good road it's smooth and quiet; on a rough road - well, you can't expect a miracle.

You guys just need to get out & drive some more DP's. The rattling of gear is an exercise in good packing of personal stuff. That being said all DP's are not created equal. There were some entry level DP's built by Monaco/Holiday Rambler that were built on a spring suspension and some others on a 4 air bag chassis. Both were not particularly smooth riding. The 8 and 10 air bag chassis by Monaco and the Freightliner and Spartin 4 bag chassis are very smooth riding. Take a week of vacation and go to Lazy Days in Tampa. Their units are all unlocked and hooked up and you don't have to drag a salesman around with you. No matter who you buy from there is no better place to see a lot of coaches.

Well, a DP is going to give you the best ride. A gasser is just going to be stiffer and more harsh and you are sitting on the engine. Basing your experience on one unit isn't enough to pass judgement over a whole category of RV's. Your P/U is going to be the quietest option, no doubt. Just think, there are no appliences, silverware, pots and pans, cabinet doors, etc. to move around. That said I have no incessent rattles, etc in my A gasser and it is pretty darn quiet,much of that is due to experience and packing well. I think more research is required.

A couple questions is how old was the Holiday Rambler DP? Did the owner have any of those foam sheets between pots & pans etc.

After two gas MHs our Tiffin RED is amazingly quiet going down the road. Wife complains about an occasional slight squeak near the microwave, but I cant hear it even when she is driving.

The only thing we hear is a slight rattle from the blinds and an occasional dish.....unless DW forgets to close a drawer.

You need to drive another class A. The rattle from an F-350 will drive your nuts afterwards.
