Well, I could just kick myself! After obtaining such a reasonable rate for 2 weeks stay I decided to move on to Albuquerque this Monday after all. It's beginning to get a little too hot here in Tucson. Oh well, it was so nice of the owners to offer the rate. I wish I could have taken advantage of it.

Sounds like the park owner/manager is a very smart business person. In this case you both won. It never hurts to ask; just don't make an offer that would insult the other person.

I agree with Raymon. I find that it's quite easy to negotiate the rates on your campsite when there is not really that much people camping. Just like what Raymon pointed out, it will be a win-win situation for both you and the campground owner: you get to save and the campground owner gets more business.

This is so true, last Oct I got turned around when looking for a Forest service campground in norhtern Ca. When I asked for a direction from a passerby on a very narrow road(really just a double path) they stated that they're cg was just over their hill, when I told them I was planning on paying only $8/night they said no problem the CG was empty except for 1 individual, was a beautiful CG exspetially for only $8 with full hookups.

We've been at this park for 2 months and originally scheduled to leave July 1. Around the middle of last month we told the park owner that next month we would be leaving 6 days early (June 24) and was hoping he would pro-rate those 24 days to the monthly rate.

Monthly $450 = ~$15.00 per day

$15 per day * 24 days = $360

He said NO. If we leave 6 days early there would be NO REFUND, NO PRO-RATE. So we paid the monthly rate. This is a GREAT park in all other respects so why make waves over $90? His park... he can manage it any way he wants. Our site is a water front on Tillamook Bay and I know he'll rent our site to overnighters at least 3 of the 6 nights we won't be here. So from his perspective.....

1. He's making $15 a night * 6 nights from us = $90
2. He'll make $45 a night * maybe 3 nights from overnighters = $135
3. $90 + $135 = $225 for 6 nights.
4. The ole "double dipper"

What the heck folks.... park owners are entitled to a little free money every once in a while aren't they?
