Can anyone give me some suggestions for an overnight stop in the Springfield, MO area? (No Wallydocking) We're coming down from the KC area enroute to Harrison, AR and want to hit the Wilder homestead in Mansfield. We'll get up the next morning & head down 65. We're in a 34' 5er.

Thanks!
Melissa

Hi,

There are 3 RV parks in Springfield.

If you enter " campground loc: Springfield, MO " in google maps it may help find a location along your route. Zoom out, drag the map to where you see little dots, then zoom in and click away to your hearts content.

Not sure if your looking for a campground or someplace other than "Wallydocking" BUT, not far outside of Springfield on Route 65, there has to be one of the nicest/largest Rest Area's I came across in my Cross Country trip last year. The truck and RV area's are separate and it was by far one of the Beat Rest area's Ive come across. I was in a 37' MH with a toad and had no problem parking in their spaces. Just another option. Have Fun

You could stop at Downstream Casino, just west of Joplin. The first 3 nights are free. They have 50amp and water at the sites, and a dump station.

Will you take Hwy 60 over to Mansfield? I think the closet thing for you maybe in Ozark. It will be a little South of the Hwy 60 & Hwy 65 junction but a lot closer then the KOA or the fair park. I would check rv park reviews for Ozark.

Ozark Highlands RV park, just off 60 at Glenstone. Mostly residents, but they had nice pull-thrus with full hookups very reasonable.

There is a KOA right on I44 in Springfield, at the intersection of I44 & 71 there are 3 RV parks in Carthage, Coachlight, Big Red Barnd and Ballards, Coachlight is my favorite, less than an hour from Springfield

I live in Springfield and I can tell you first hand that there are no nice campgrounds here. There are a couple you can stay in but I sure wouldn't call them nice and they won't be convenient. Anyway, if you're coming Hwy 13 from KC you can exit east onto I-44 and then exit south (Branson exit) onto Hwy 65 go south to the Hwy 60 exit (Cabool exit - approx. 7 miles from I-44) which is the way you'll go to Mansfield and is the most direct route. About 20 miles east of Springfield, you will find the Silver Bell RV Park in Rogersville, MO. It's part of a trailer park but they have an RV section with plenty of RV sites. We've never stayed there (too close to home!) but it's been there for years and is nicely maintained. That would be my first choice for your route.
