What do you haul in your Toy Hauler and does the additional weight behind the axles cause a "Teeter Tauter" effect and reduce pin weight? If so, by how much?
Oyeah I haul 4 4 wheelers in mine and have to put 500 pounds of weight in the nosie so it tows good. If I dont its all over the road and i spin out on hills on gravel roads. I dont have any soild numbers on pin weight but 500 pounds of weight in the noise cures the problem when loaded and when emty i take the weight out of the noise and it tows the same as when loaded.
About every 5 lbs in the garage reduces pinweight by 1-2 lbs. If the weight is at the back door, it moves more weight off the pin, at the front bulkhead moves less. The farther forward the axles are from teh garage the more weight is shifted as well.
My pin weight is 2640lbs with an empty trailer.
After I put full water in it, a 2700lb sand rail and 2 full size quads, my pin weight goes up to 3400lbs.
No way do I agree with more weight towards the back door reduces pin weight.
My rail is a rear engine rail and I drive it in straight. All of the motor/trans and rear suspension of the car is well behind the rear axle.

Lincster,
Don't you think that may depend on how the TH is built?
I know with my DF 23KS, when I have full Black & Grey tanks, (96 gals total) my tongue weight is just over 1750#'s, by loading the 2005 Honda Rubicon 720#'s in the very rear at the ramp door, the tongue weight drops to the following:
I have done extensive testing/weighing of my 2009 28KS, by filling all the Fresh (96 gal), Grey (47 gal) and Black water (50 gal) tanks in all combinations and using the Honda Rubicon (720#'s weight), which removes 220#'s from the tongue weight, as a counter balance, by moving it back as close as possible to the load ramp, normal carrying position.
I have obtained/weighed the following tongue weights of the TH:
1) No toys, no Fresh water, all tanks empty--TW = 1440# (1380# OEM rating)
2) No toys, full Fresh water -- TW = 1560#
3) No toys, no Fresh water, full Grey and Black -- TW = 1924#’s
4) ATV only, no Fresh water – TW = 1220#
5) ATV only, full Fresh water -- TW = 1560-220 = 1340#
6) ATV only, no Fresh water, full Grey and Black -- TW = 1751-220 = 1531#
7) SXS, full Fresh water -- TW = 1560-370 = 1190#
8) SXS, no Fresh water, full Grey and Black -- TW = 1751-370 = 1381#
I installed a Husky 1200-1700# WD Hitch and now run with 6 links under tension, (which takes the front bumper back to OEM spec's 18-1/2" to 19") after hooking up the TH etc with 1 sway bar installed. I have pretty well dialed the WD hitch in and the F-350 pulls this TH with out any problems, even with the last cross wind we went thru that were 30-50-MPH, heading into Idaho for last years Elk hunt.

I guess when you have a toy hauler that can fit inside my hauler, you are probably right.
How do you get a WD hitch that has a weight rating range? I have never seen that before. All of the hitches that I have looked at are rated for A weight. 1200lbs, 1400lbs, 1000lbs......

It is Husky HD model #73060, it was OEM rated from 1200 to 1700 #'s Max, cost was right around $300-$400, and there is only one site/co that carry them in Kentucky/Tenn area.
I found it by prowling the Husky WD site, I also remember a 1700-2000# range WD model also, but I think is was another site???.
I have a 1200#, 1400# Equalilizer WD hitches and an EZ 1200# WD hitches and their spring bars are a lot smaller the this Bear of a hitch, these bars are 2" or slighty bigger, in dia, IIRR.
When I found this model that would cover my needs, I think I deleted all info except the Husky site info, I'll check and make sure if you want the info, let me know.
