All of a sudden the 2 rigs pull up on the other side of our campfire about 60 feet from our trailer. Without a word the people set up camp right next to us, but at least stayed on the far side of their rigs.
The next morning we could see they were from California.
Go figure..... Oh! Did I say thats what I hate when I'm boodocking?
If they were from Wyoming they would have brought their rifles and kept you up all night with gunfire which was what I experienced on my last trip to Shoshone.
Well ....you did not get the gist of my posts. You violated the rule and camped way to close too them. As someone else posted, that must have been their way of "clearing the crashers". I hope you had the courtesy to move.
And thanks for the idea. I will make sure to fire my guns several times right after the crashers arrive. I'll set up some cans and practice with my night vision scope that I bought with all that extra money DC sent me.

Amen! I really don't mind someone 20' away but one year there was a group of 5 RV's all with kids, dogs, and loud music. Then . . . wait . . . the kids were rafting down the creek behind us and none of the adults from their group was watching. Now, this is no slow ordinary creek, but a snow fed, swift running creek. Now, imagine being here then all of a sudden, melee breaks out! BTW - creek is deeper than it looks.
We've got to get you out of that 5er and into a TC!!!!
Earlier this week in SE OR.

However, I'm with DJ on this one. You couldn't pull a 5er into the places where we boondock. In fact, I wish the roads were in worse shape.
no matter noisy inconsiderate jerks will find you in the deepest depths of Africa much like a thief will find a way around the strongest locks, security systems, etc.

This is true and I have been "invaded" by other 4x4 TCs and Jeeps. However the folks that usually put that much time and effort into getting there are ones I end up sharing a campfire, beers and 4x4 lies!!!!
Being woken up by the screamer in the tent next door. She apologized to us the next morning, said it had been awhile. Hate it when someone is having more fun than me.

And then again .... if you want a lot more room and comfort than what a TC can provide out in the middle of nowhere while purist boondocking with no I-hate-its to fret over .... you might want to try a small Class C motorhome on an over-kill Ford E450:
