Two questions

For you do it your selfers I'd like to hear some ideas on how to get a second A/C unit to the top of our camper.

Anybody have any luck cleaning the back side of your day shades. They appear to be made out of paper and ours are very dirty.

Thanks

Some "Rental Shops" carry a cranking rack that is use for loading air units etc or other heavy items up above. Enter yellow pages search box and let your fingers do the rest. You could also go to a block tackle made up of four legs lumber, criss cross support & plywood dumb waiter setup pretty far fetched setup but do-able.
Day shades are big dirt, dust, grabbers. Air compressor blow off, and maybe after that a damp dabbing of the shades. Most shades have a lot of sun uv damage fade. Not a hole lot to be done with that problem...

I have a local business (beer store) who has a fork lift. The owner said that I could come by with the camper and A/C and he would use the forklift to raise the unit to the roof. From there I would just need to secure it and get out of there. Something to think about?

I did my replacement with a local co. that had a forklift, did all the prep work at home , ready for removeal, etc, and then towed camper to business and removed old and put up new, just enough securing to get it home to finish it properly.

Day shades are cheap enough, throw them out and buy new

Easy, use a straight extention ladder with some carpet under it at the roof then lay the AC box bottm side down across the ladder and walk it up,once you getto the roof carefully flip it on and slide it to the work area, its really is easy.
