I'm a brand new TT owner (32BUDS Heartland North Trail)and went on my first camping trip this past weekend. One of the features I was told was beneficial (when purchasing my trailer) was the external black water tank clean out. I used it for the first time this weekend when breaking down the trailer. I followed the instructions to a tee, open black water dump valve, hook up hose, turn on water...etc. but when I did...water leaked out of the piping into the bathroom. When looking at the plumbing...there appears to be either a threaded PVC cap or a vent on the piping...where the water was coming from. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Know a fix? How should I handle this? Now I'm afraid to use the clean out...Advice please?

I would take it back to the dealer. That should be a warranty repair.

Unless the dealer is close by and easy to take the trailer back to, I would unthread the thing and take it to Home Depot or Lowes plumbing section. I believe they have those devices in stock. I forget what they are called though - maybe a vacuum relief valve. They let air in the lines to equalize pressures for the P traps or something like that. They are supposed to be a one way valve but frequently break or don't work correctly.

I own an '06 Heartland Bighorn. The first time I used my Saniflush, I could see water coming out of the bottom of the RV, under the commode area. Took it back to the dealer for that item and a few other things. There is a check valve that's apparently required by RV code and has to be higher than existing plumbing in the RV. Mine was routed behind and above the toilet. Someone at the factory didn't tighten up the connections to the check valve properly. I'm really surprised it didn't burn out my converter.

I have a Heartland BRS28. Leaks plagued us constantly. No one checks to see if the workers tighten connections or if anything leaks before it leaves the factory. Never again........
I hope my DH got them all fixed now.

I had to have a the check valve replaced on mine, under warranty thank goodness. Now each time I use it I send the DW inside to make sure it isn't leaking. Last time there was no line at the dump station and I let it run for quite some time. DW thought maybe I forgot about her...haha

I've only used our black tank flush a 1/2 dozen or so times but never had a problem. But I will say this, why did they put it on the opposite side as the dump valves? Why not the same side as to make it easier to hook the hose up while draing the tanks.

I have a 32 BUDS and had the exact same problem the first time I used it. Another poster said it, I don't believe they have people checking to see if the plumbing fixtures/lines are tightened. Sink in kitchen was loose as well.
I would first just check to be sure it is tightened. If not, take it back.
Heartland has very good quality, great customer service, and great product for the money but they most definitely lack in quality control.
