Got ready to depart a site and the driver's side front slide would not operate correctly. It would retract, but it sounded and looked like it was running over something every few inches. I could both hear and see this happen. I've inspected everything I can get to, but can't see anything obvious that could cause this type of problem.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you may have lost a tooth on the drive gear. See if can get to the motor and drive system and look the gears over carefully.

I'll take a close look at it today. Thanks for the suggestion.

If it is a Lippert slide out, go to the Lippert internet site and start reading the fixes for various problems. There is one field fix for a gear jumping the cogs because of too much play. Worked nicely on mine and not too difficult to perform. Good luck!

Really need to know what type of slide system you have. My new TT has the Swintek system (the rights to which were bought out by Lippert) and the fourth time I operated it, the wires to one of the motors got jammed between the floor of the slideout and the main floor. Ripped a seal off of the wall in the process and almost pulled the wire out of the motor. Trailer is currently at dealer for repair under warrantee. There is all sorts of things I should be able to do with the motor controller on this thing in case I have problems, but that would only be with the first 12" of travel. Beyond that, you can't get to the slide controller because it is blocked by the slide.

Bad design twice over (location of controller and routing of wire).

How do I determine what kind of slide system I have? I have looked through all the information I have, but haven't found anything that describes the slides.

Post some pictures of the mechanism. Someone will recognize it and be able to identify it.

There is a tutorial in the Forum Technical Support section.

Just got a down-loadable manual from Fleetwood Customer Service. The slideouts are Power Gear.
