Hi,
just completed, a few hours ago, our trip from Florida
to Oregon to pick up the new trailer. the truck is a
GMC duramax. we stayed off the interstates mostly and
cruised major secondary roads. overall mileage was about
19.5 miles/gal. now we get to see wat it is going back
in the autumn.

I get right at 17 mixed driving. I get 12 to 13 towing "hot".

I did a 100 mile trip with a good tail wind and got 23.2 on my new GMC 3500 srw. Generally it is in the 19-20 range for highway and about 15-16 around town. We won't get our fifth wheel til next month. Our first long trip will be about 1600 miles in July and I hope it will be a bit better than the 8 to 8.5 we got in the motorhome. Just ordered a 57 gallon Titan fuel tank to help with the flexibility for fuel stops.

Me thinks you need to use a hand calculator rather than the overhead "lie-ometer". My 2011 HD2500 6.6 can't come close to those figures unless I use a tow rope hooked up to another vehicle. Heck, even my DW 3.1 V-6 Luminal will hardly get that. JMHO

Hand calculated I get 25 to 27 highway with only the two of us. BUT that is Canadian gallons. Around town I can get anywhere from 10 to 18 depending on how much I put my foot in it.
Truck is 2008 3500 duramax.
Towing anywhere from 10 to 15mpg. The 15 was from Medicine Hat to Edmonton Alberta on the prairies on a calm day on divided highway all the way.
I usually travel at 60 to 65 mph.
Cheers
