Sounds great. You can increase the calories by adding a little fat (butter, veggie oil) to up the calories without increasing the amount he has to eat.

honey is fine for dogs...it is one thing that can be given with sulcrate without causing the sulcrate to lose its ability to coat ulcers in the esophagus ...also very good to increase calories ....64 cal per tablespoon

Update: I haven't taken Ike to the vet to use her scale yet, but the old boy FEELS like he's packing on a couple of pounds!!! I'm sure it's the Pancreazyme helping him use the calories in the dog food (450 cals per cup!) but maybe the oatmeal helps, too. And he's acting, well.... like an Aussie. I'm seeing more of those "bursts of craziness" typical of the breed..... only at his age (13), they don't last too long and they're followed by a nice long nap....LOL!!

Thanks! There IS a drawback to all this alertness - he sees me packing for a 2-day kayak/tent camping trip and thinks he's coming along :-( He's gonna be WAY peeved when he finds out he's not coming. I'm giving Ed a roll of liverwurst to bribe him into eating, which he usually stops doing when his "mommy" is gone....
Sheeeesh - Aussies are so obsessive about their "people"....LOL!!
