I forgot to take the breakaway switch of off the Jeep we traded in. There are quite a few manufacturers of breakaway switches; IE OEM, Tekonsha, Curt Manufacturing, Hopkins, Fastway.
Are there any manufacturers I should stay away from? Does one manufacturere stand out over the others?
I don't mind spending a few more dollars for one that can handle the road salt in the norheast. I only want to do this once.
Because there are no electronics involved, (just a simple make break switch) I don't believe it makes a whole lot of difference. When the I needed one, I went go Ebay and got it delivered for $10.
Ooops Brain fade. I didn't see this was for a toad. That may be a way different breakaway switch than a trailer uses.

I believe it is the same. I have seen corroded ones on cars where they do not look they have held up well to the environment.
Tekonsha makes 3 models with a couple of versions of each.
The Tekonsha 2005-B120 will work fine. I added one to my 2nd toad rather than move a switch back and forth between toads. Any trailer store should be able to supply a switch also. Simply add a length of wire with banana plugs and you're good to go with your Brake Buddy.

Thank you. We also have two Jeeps we tow. I have been waiting for the baseplate to arrive before I ordered the breakaway. Since Tekonsha makes two different types, I was waiting to pull the bumper cover to see which type would fit best.
The only one I can find locally is a Hopkins, so I will order the Tekonsha 2005-B120 over the internet.
