We have been with Progressive for several years with no claims whatsoever. We just received a bill which increases our cost by about $130/year. Received a quote from Hartford/AARP for about $500 less ($1600 vs $1100)for the same coverage. Does any one have experience with Hartford? Thanx.

Will the quote be the same if you sign up with them??? They are usually meaningless! After they run your credit rating will the "quote" still be the same? I'd want to be talking to a real agent before switching. Lay your present policy down on his desk and see what they can do!!!

Yep, my wife's Jaguar ran over some junk and ripped out the radiator, AC condenser and mufflers. Hartford told our garage to go to a junkyard and get used parts to fix it. We refused and Hartford sent us a check for $900 on a $2800 repair. They refused to put in rebuilt parts never mind new parts. They suck.

Went round and round with them and their reply was "get a lawyer" knowing full well it would cost us more to hire a lawyer than we would get back. Did I say Hartford sucks? Got Travelers now. Don't know if they are any better but the same price.

I had them for several years and had a good experience. I never had an auto claim, but had 1 good-size homeowner's claim. They were very efficient, pleasant to deal with, and cut me a replacement cost check pretty fast.

I have Progressive insurance on the motor home--no claims, has not increased in the past 4 years, and I have AARP (Hartford) insurance on my home, have had two claims (Hurricane damage) and I was the first on my street to have an adjuster assess my damage. Very prompt attention and I have been well satisfied with the service and claim adjustments.
The only increases in policy cost are attributed to inflation.

I have the Hartford through AARP for my motorhome and my three cars. Never had a problem.

The insurance company can't do that in the state I live in. It is against state law. Looks like your state reps like the insurance companies lobby money better that they like you taxes.

Hartford was twice as much as Goodsam/ GMAC. Progressive was 3 times as much as GMAC. I haven't had a claim so I can't vouch for quality there. We tried the GMAC, they seem to take payments efficiently.

I changed from Liberty Mutual (treated well and promptly), and saved almost $400 per on our Truck and TT. I have a Florida policy as we do both places. Had some horrendous winds come thru here (NC) in Feb/Mar and rain causing a water leak around our window in the TT in turn causing some delamination. Insurance is covering it whenever I can get it over the mountain to the body shop.

I compare insurance rates annually and Hartford has never been competitive for me even with AARP. Shop the insurance and you will be able to get a better deal with a company as good as or with a better financial rating. Hartford isn't the company it use to be IMHO.
