I ran 2 nearly identical vehicles, one gas and one diesel so I can benchmark the relative performance / cost etc.

Turned out that the 6.0 diesel was by far the higher cost had I bought it new and paid the diesel premium.

Sure, it was more powerful, and competes with a 6.8 V-10 rather than the 5.4 I was benchmarking.

So let me get this straight.

You own(ed) one of the worst diesels (THE worst financially for Ford) and you compair it to one of the best gasoline towing engines Ford has ever made and then you come to the conclusion that a diesel truck cost more to operate than a gas truck.

LMAO, yep, I can see why you came to that conclusion.

On another note, I just heard that "Swift" is going to put 20 Liter gasoline engines in their class 8's to save on operating costs.

OP - great post. When I came across this forum while researching solar installations I immediately began to read through many of the active posts daily with my attention usually focusing on the "can I tow this?" thread titles. While I have learned a lot about what ratings are and how to determine a vehicle's capability, I also learned to beware the weight police. I sure have never dared post my setup specs, the police would be all over me!

Hehe, hehe. I luv the "white knuckle" stories. Been driving over 55 years. Pulled every thing, hauled every thing every where in wind, hills and rutty roads. NEVER, EVER had a "White Kuckle" experience. Makes me wonder what these guys are doing. Oh, my goodness and I have never owned a dually!
Hehe, I love this, "I hope I don't drive on the same road you are with that set up cause you are endangering me and my family"
Last year on our way to AZ I quit worrying about every little thing that was going to ruin my life and I quit buying every little do-dad that was suppose to make my whole life better. I had the most enjoyable time I ever had this year. And its only going to get better.
Oh, oh my gawd I forgot and I have a LIPPERT frame!

I've always figured that, if you go to an internet forum and ask for advice, you deserve what you get.

lol. x2 Got to wonder about people who don't like that things actually change.

I guess the best way to counter the "weight police" arrogance is with arrogance of your own.
