I too had a dog that had problems with fireworks. I most certainly would not take a dog camping on that weekend. It's too hard on the dog not to mention if they bolt and run off in a strange area and maybe never found.
Fireworks may be illegal in most states but I have yet to experience a Fourth of July where they were not going off no matter what state I was in.
BTW: Stayed at a CG outside Atlanta on the 4th, heard gun shots and asked the host if I should be concerned. They said no. Apparently in Georgia they shoot off guns on the 4th.
