Another unsatisfied customer of Good Year Marathon tires. Two and a half years ago when I needed tires for my rig, even though I had heard that the Good Year Marathon tires made in China were not good, I went with the Marathons. I upgraded from an 8 ply to a 10 ply. 235/80/R16. I should have listened. We were preparing for a ten thousand mile trip around the US and wanted to be sure everything was up to specs. I decided to have the trailer lifted up three inches on the hangers. While it was being done, the mechanic noticed that one of the tires was separating. Next stop Goodyear dealer where I bought the tires. Did I mention 2 ½ years and about 5000 miles. They said they would pro-rate the tire. Ended up costing me retail.
Here we are, less than a month later and another 2000 miles in Branson, MO. Another Marathon with a separation and flat.
Put the spare on and went to a local tire shop and had “Nitto Dura Grappler’s” LT235/85/R16 made in Japan. Talked to a couple tire shops in Branson and they both recommended the Nitto.
I guess I will see down the road.

At least you changed them before they shredded and caused damage.

Not all Marathons are made in China. The original tires on my last trailer were Marathons made in New Zealand. I bought a spare seperately, also a Marathon, it was made in China.

The set on the trailer when I sold it were Marathons made in Alabama.

My Goodyear Marathon's say "Made in China" on them. Two weeks ago I had one sling all the tread off. Note where it says China on left side of picture. right next to the rim in small letters.

The Marathons on my Jayco, purchase new this winter, are stamped "Made in China" right on the tire sidewall. We'll see how they hold up, we don't travel a great deal up to now, but did just take a 1,200 mile trip to Zion and back. Will do a couple of 350-400 miles trips later this summer. Holding my breath.

My imported 5er to the UK has so far traveled Oklahoma-Baltimore, some 2000 miles around the UK, a 4000 mile round trip to Portugal on Goodyear Marathons (made in China). No problems so far. Tyre pressure 65psi. Am I tempting fate
