It's just another personal choice. I couldn't see our family not having a booth but I can see why a couple or older people might prefer detached chair.

FWIW a couple friend of ours got a new mh last year and they love everything about the new rig except for the table / chairs. They'd always had booths in the past and since it was just the 2 of them, they thought they'd like the separate chairs but she said she hates it (can't remember if I asked her why she felt that way).

We specifically wanted a booth because it has seat belts so my wife and daughter can sit in it while on the road. They play games, do puzzles etc while I get us from point A to point B. That is my .02.

Okay, here's a new one. We have a booth with under the seating area being long drawers. After living in it FT for over a year I accidentally discovered the hidden safe behind one of the drawers that is a foot or so shorter than the other. What a great place to hide a safe and bolted to the frame of the MH as well. No, it was empty when I opened it and no, I'm not telling you where I live. Bob.

We went with a hapy medium. We have a credenza with a slide out table (attached) and two free standing chairs (+ 2 folding chairs under the bed). The credenza has more storage than a booth but we are not stuffed/locked into a booth.

previous owner converted the booth with a much larger table top that was custom made. Generally I dont like the booths but mine will seat 4 comfortably with a whole table of food. Then it folds into a bed pretty quickly and has been handy. I may tire of it but it works well enough for now and Im able to store a couple of flats of drinks/water without much hassle.

I'm part of the booth crowd. I currently have the freestanding table and chairs. Looks real nice but not really useful. I do have to say not all dinette booths are created equal. I've been shopping for about month and finally picked one I liked and bought hardware for a leg less table from suggestions from a member in this forum. My last fifth wheel booth was not comfortable so I can see where a lot of people are coming from. You have to start spending higher dollars for a better booth both in comfort and better design.

Had a booth in our previous rv (5th wheel) and really miss it now in our current MH. If we ever get another rv, a booth will be on the 'need' list.

We had a booth dinette on our first motor home and D.W. ordered a table and chairs on our current coach (over my objections) and we really regret it now! You lose the extra storage underneath and the ability to make another bed out of it. This isn't a big problem for us until the grandchildren are traveling with us.
