I was watching the oil and trans temps on our first tow of our new to us 34 foot Titanium. The oil temps was running around 205-208 and the trans temps were in the 190's and this is in the flatlands and temps were below 90.

I noticed the oil temps are running around 190-195 and the trans temps about the same when not towing. Are these temps OK or do I need to talk to the dealer on this new truck?

What temps should I start worrying at?

I got about 12 mpg on the two short hauls of the 5ver (less than 50 miles both times)

Those temps are fine.

That truck is not even breaking a sweat. Your truck will let you know when it's having a problem or getting hot. Enjoy.

Me....at 200F I would consider avoiding doing anything further to increase the heat!

I am not preaching to anyone who is fine running higher...just saying that for me 200F (93C in Canadian) is the max.

My combo' runs at 65C to 68C (154F) when towing....that is how I like it!

When pulling the Cyclone on the interstates during the summer, I always have oil temps in the upper 220s and the transmission temps are usually in 205-210 range.

Temps are about same as mine. On flat, oil runs in the low 200's and pulling through the mountains on steep climbs I have got into the 230's, but not hot enough for the fan to kick on. Tranny runs same as yours too.

I don't have the ability to read engine oil temps, but on a recent hwy trip, my trans temps were 165 - 185*F when running 70 mph on the highway with no trailer. I haven't towed since installing the ability to read trans temp with the ScanGauge2. Your temps sound normal.

Red line on my Peterbilt is 250 for the engine oil temperature. It ussually stays at or below 220. I don't worry about it as long as it stays below the red line.

You have nothing to worry about. Mine run about the same and I *think* our 5'ers are about the same weight.

Empty or loaded, I run the following averages:

ECT - 195
EOT - 205
TFT - 205

They only change when towing UPHILL......and they only increase by 10-15F

I was also worried when I first got my new truck. I came from a 2010 and the temps were WAY different. I had to reset the alarm values on my Edge Insight, as they started sounding off when I was just driving empty to work with less than 500 miles on the engine! I reset them to 235 for EOT and TFT and 225 for ECT.

I read elsewhere that for the 6.7, Ford increased the running temps to increase efficiency by way of lower viscosity in the fluids.

True or not, don't worry and enjoy. You seem to be right where the rest of us are at with the 6.7

Your temps are fine. If you don't have a monitoring system let me suggest a ScanGuage II and watch the trans, oil and water temps to be sure. The stock gauges are useless.
