NO Insurance company have adjusters that are knowledgeable or have ANY info on how to estimate or fix costs on Damage to an RV. There are NO BOOKS or ONLINE info to estimate parts and labor at all. They rely on RV collision shops to get that info and then approve the Estimate. ANY offer or estimate they may give you without a RV collision shop estimate will NOT be any way close to the real cost. So, you need to get your own Estimates from a RV collision repair facility before you accept any offer from the insurance company. Your RV is 16 years old and the parts will be extremely expensive if you can even get them from Monaco. We just ordered a bathroom window from Monaco for a customer's 2006 Cayman----- $1100, just for the window. Doug

YOU take pics of your damaged coach...and take plenty. Even with film cameras pics are cheap. You might even get double prints made...one set for YOUR insurance company if they wish them.
Dont jump right in and settle at the first price / check HER insurance company gives you. THEY are the ones that have to clear their books of this accident...not you.
Be hunting for a top notch body shop for repair work....you DONT have to take it to "their" body man at all.
Hang tough...all will come out A-OK eventually. Sorry to hear of the wreck!

Tom, I have SF also...I now have a claim in for hail damage...State Farm does not have their own adjusters for RV's..the contract that out..I'm just up the road in Prattville and my rv is in the shop waiting for the adjuster....good luck with your claim, and wish me luck with mine.

Don't think the insurance companies will put YOUR best interests first. I had never had a claim in 40+ years of driving. I was hit from behind turning into our subdivision by a woman who had blacked out and was literally driving down the sidewalk..... not even in the street. I trusted State Farm and in the end got totally screwed as State Farm and her insurance company Allstate went to insurance arbitration to come to the conclusion that her having a stoke/blacking out was an "act of God" and therefore she wasn't at fault. Never got back my $1000 deductible or compensation for being without my vehicle for 2 months, the ambulance ride to the hospital, the emergency room deductible, etc. etc.
I thought they would serve my interest as I was without fault as stated on the police report. Not so. My point is that you, as I, had decades of non-claim premiums paid and State Farm left me out hanging. It took almost a year for the insurance arbitration board (composed of all insurance company people) to reach the conclusion that a stroke is "an act of God". Silly me, I thought it was caused by poor diet, overweight, lack of exercise, etc.
If there is ever another incident, an ambulance chaser is the first call I'm going to make and I NEVER thought I would make a statement like that.

Tom, sorry to hear you were involved in a collision. My concern is in your statement, "she hit the wall and I hit her." I hope that statement is your paraphrasing and not in the police report. From your statement an insurance adjuster could draw the conclusion that your speed was too fast for conditions also, hence placing partial blame on you. I am sure you meant to say that she hit the wall and then hit YOU...read the report carefully and make sure any irregularities are corrected. The reporting officer can do a follow up report to do just that...good luck...Dennis

Tom:
Sorry to hear about your accident. Here's some advice based upon my experience with casualty companies:
Neither your insurance company nor the insurance company of the party who hit you are your friends.
You need to make sure that there isn't any damage that is not visible, like the under carriage of your rig.
Make sure that the replacement parts are new & not junkyard pieces.
Do not sign off, do not sign anything until you drive the rig after repair and until you are COMPLETELY satisfied with the work done by the repair shop.
Take the above advice and turn this claim over to your insurance company...that's what you paid premiums for, it's their job to satisfy you,the policy holder.
No, I am not a lawyer but just someone who has been screwed by insurance companies and their adjusters....or at least they tried. GOOD LUCK, let us know how it turns out!

Great advice guys, I really appreciate it! You know I've always gotten something from this board, and I'm always glad I posted a question, or given a response, this is one of the great benefits to modern technology. Thanks again. - Tom

I deal with adjusters everyday on classic car accidents. Like mh's there is no real guide to go by. So here it is in a nutshell for you. Was she charged with the accident?? If so have the coach repaired where you want and have the repair shop work with the adjuster. Take no checks from the insurance company and sign nothing until you are happy with the repairs. When you are sign off on it and the shop will be paid. Things have changed alot over the years so a lot of these suggestions here are useless now. If she was not charged let your ins. handle it.

I have to agree with those who said don't sign anything. Many copanies will consider a claim closed by you simply signing their check to deposit or cash it. Got burnt by that one.
Also check after a few months to make sure your insurance company didn't register the accident as "chargeable". Some companies automatically register any claim as chargable. This will increase your insurance premium. Had to fight for a year to get one changed when I was hit from behind at a stop light and the police report said the other driver was at fault and was ticketed to boot.
